THE FIND
A vintage hexagonal jewelry box covered in silk brocade with a floral pattern and gold thread weave — closed with a classic kiss-lock clasp. The kind of small object that sits on a dresser and earns its place quietly.
WHAT WE KNOW
The box is hexagonal in form, covered in a silk or silk-blend brocade fabric with a floral motif and gold threading that catches light at an angle. The kiss-lock (or frame clasp) closure is intact and functional. Interior lining present. Good vintage condition — fabric shows minor age wear consistent with the piece's era; no significant damage noted. Sized for rings, earrings, or small trinkets.
THE STORY
Silk brocade jewelry boxes in this format have a long history in both Eastern and Western decorative traditions — the hexagonal form and kiss-lock clasp are particularly associated with mid-20th century production, when this style of small fabric box was a common gift item across Europe and Asia. The gold threading elevates it from functional to decorative; it's as much an object to display as one to use.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
The hexagonal form is less common than the standard rectangular jewelry box, and the brocade fabric with gold thread has a richness that photographs well and reads even better in person. A small find with a lot of presence.
