THE FIND
A polished black stone egg, 201g, with finely incised fish engraving filled in white — a striped fish with detailed scales and fins occupies most of the surface, a smaller fish visible in the background. Deep black ground, high-gloss polish, skilled line work. Two old symbols meet in one small object: the egg suggesting beginnings and potential; the fish suggesting movement, something alive beneath the surface. Motion preserved in something completely still. Photographed on a brass display stand (stand not included).

WHAT WE KNOW
This is a carved decorative stone object rather than a natural mineral specimen.
