THE FIND
A polished chevron amethyst palm stone, 23g — deep violet bands moving through milky white quartz in the distinctive V-shaped pattern that gives this variety its name. Small enough to carry, visually distinctive enough to display. Also known as Dream Amethyst.
WHAT WE KNOW
Chevron amethyst is a variety of amethyst in which purple and milky quartz grow together in layered or banded formations, creating the characteristic chevron or V-shaped pattern. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, with color associated with trace iron and natural irradiation during formation. The banding pattern is entirely natural to the material; the palm stone form is produced by cutting and polishing. This specimen weighs 23g. SKU: 225307K. Locality not independently verified.
THE STORY
No two chevron amethyst pieces arrange their bands exactly the same way — the pattern is a record of how the stone grew, layer by layer, over geological time. At 23 grams it is modest in size, but the contrast between violet and milky white makes it visually distinctive in a way that larger, uniform amethyst specimens often aren't. A palm stone is the right form for this material: the polish brings out the banding, and the size invites handling.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
The banding on this piece has the quality of a tiny folded landscape — violet mountains in white stone. It's the kind of specimen that rewards a closer look and holds up to repeated examination.
